Binary Coded Decimal Definition

(BCD) A binary-coded notation in which each of the decimal digits is expressed as a binary numeral. For example, in binary-coded decimal notation, the number 12 is represented by 0001 0010, opposed to 1100 in pure binary. It is easier to convert decimal numbers to and from BCD than binary.
