Mainframe Computer Definition

Mainframe computers are used by large organisations such as banks. A mainframe can occupy a massive area, filling multiple buildings with hundreds of disk drives and other pieces of hardware. Hundreds of terminals that may be many miles away are usually connected to a mainframe computer.
